Sally Zielinski Obituary

Sally L. Henryk Zielinski

Cotter, AR - Sally L. Henryk Zielinski, Age 83, of Cotter AR died suddenly on December 23, 2020. The daughter of Dorothea and Phillip Reed, she was born in Bangor Maine and moved to New Jersey before ultimately moving to Cotter, AR in 1989.

Sally was a loving and devoted mother of two daughters - Linda Henryk of Mountain Home AR and Cynthia Crosby (Terry) of Memphis TN. Her constant companion was her little rescue dog Sweetie Pie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband James W. Henryk of Green Brook NJ in 1982 and her second husband Carl Zielinski in 2002, along with her sister Nancy Moore and her brother Roger Frame.

Sally was a life member of the Baxter County Master Gardeners, graduating in the first class ever held in Baxter County. She was a life member and past president of the Glad Garden Club as well as past president of the Green Brook NJ Garden Club and life member of the National Federation of Garden Clubs in both AR and NJ, leading to her induction into the prestigious "Circle of Roses"

for decades of service. After years of required study, she was also a Nationally accredited Flower Show Judge.

Besides gardening, Sally developed an interest in Poetry and served as president of the Baxter County Poets Association and was a member of the Arkansas Poets Roundtable. Her crowning achievement was the publication of her poetry book "Trips to the Attic", now in its fourth printing.

Sally was raised during World War 2 and the rationing of goods shaped her ideology; her mantra was "Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, or Do without". She suffered from dementia in her later years of life but she had a wonderful attitude about it, saying she got to enjoy happy memories over and over again because she kept forgetting them. Sally lived on a river all her life, starting with the Penobscot, then the Hudson, and lastly the White River, where she was happiest!

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in the Spring.

Our Green Brook neighbor for many, many years, “The Sal” had me laughing til my face hurt. I will miss her wit, wisdom and affection. The end of an era. My heartfelt condolences to all.

Sally you look and sound like a lady anyone would be fortunate to call a friend. Cyndy and Terry are dear treasured friends of mine, I'm sure Linda is also a great daughter. "Sweetie Pie" does look like a "Sweetie Pie" and looks very happy. Pat Palmer Cosby

My childhood memories of your Mom will always be with me, too many but especially in the mornings waiting for you in the kitchen to walk to school - always remember the fresh smell of coffee and your mom at the table enjoying it while we chatted. So sorry and R.I.P. in God's Hands
