Lt. Col. Retired USAF Aubrey (Al) Loren Brady, of Seabrook, Texas passed away July 31, 2016. He was born September 12, 1918 in Booker, Texas to Henry Lacey and Laura McFarling Brady. Al was married to Vivian Stevenson for 44 years until her death in 1988. He then married Norma Hays in 1990.
Al received a degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University. He entered the US Army Air Corp in 1940 where he served in WWII as a flight instructor stationed in the Philippines. Al also served in the Korean War as a Commander for the 5th Air Force Squadron known as the Mosquitoes. He flew 102 combat missions which earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and various campaign ribbons. After leaving the Air Force Al became employed with NASA at the Johnson Space Center for 20 years and ultimately became head of logistics and was involved in all manned spaceflight operations from Mercury to the Space Shuttle Program.
He was very involved with the Space City Rotary Club for 21 years and was given the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lacey Brady and Laura McFarling Brady.; brother, Walter Brady; son, David Loren Brady; 1st wife, Vivian Stevenson Brady.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Hays Brady of 26 years; daughters, Molly Ann Redman and husband Dr. Paul of Dayton, Texas, Mary Lee Pratt and husband Joe of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Paul C. Redman Jr. of Waco, Texas, David C. Redman and wife Melissa of Kingwood, Texas, Dr. John L Redman and wife Janna of Anahuac, Texas, Mary Redman Poston and husband Matthew, David Benjamin Brady Stratton and wife Jana of Fort Collins, Colorado, Nicholas L. Pratt and wife Crystal, David M. Pratt, Joe Brady Pratt and wife Cecilia all of Austin, Texas; 14 great grandchildren. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas 77598.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seabrook United Methodist Church, 3300 Lakeside Drive, El Lago, Texas 77586.
