Debra Kay Mancil, 55, died on July 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 24, 1958 in New Orleans to parents, Mary and M. Leo Mancil. Debra worked for over 25 years in the NASA family as an Aerospace Designer for Lockheed Martin and received numerous awards and recognitions for her work. Debra was an active member for 19 years in Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, which is a nonprofit service organization with chapters in the USA and abroad. Debra was active in her local chapter, Zeta Tau, and on the district and state level. She has served as president of both her chapter and her district and held numerous offices at the state level. She strongly supported Epsilon Sigma Alpha's commitment to the St. Jude's Children's Research hospital, not only through her contributions, but as a volunteer at numerous radiothons, fund-raising galas and walks. Debra loved her sorority and her sister members and seldom missed an opportunity to participate in their fellowship and educational events. Debra was preceded in death by her father, M. Leo Mancil. She is survived by her mother, Mary C. Mancil; her sister, Donna Ayling and husband, David; her nieces, Erin Ayling, and Colleen O'Connor and husband, Mac; her great-nephew, Silas O'Connor; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; her best friend, Linda K. Waters; and her sisters in Epsilon Sigma Alpha. A memorial service will be held at a future unnamed date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
