League City: Elton Carol Brown passed away in League City on Monday, November 3rd 2014. He was 94 years old. Elton was born on July 19th 1920, in Menard County, Texas, to Carol Lane and Lurana Nixon Brown. He learned to ride a horse at a very early age and was an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Always an adventurer he left home at age 18 and joined the CCC, a job program started by Franklin D.Roosevelt, and built roads in Arizona. A patriotic American, Elton joined the Merchant Marine in January of 1942 and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters during WWII. His favorite things to do were to ride horses, which he did until he was over 80 years old, and to sit with friends and family and tell stories of all the adventures he had during his life.

Elton is survived by his wife of 65 years Elsie Roberts Brown, a daughter Carol Brown of League City, a son Craig and daughter in law Cheryl of Houston, grandsons Joseph of Miami Beach, Florida and Aaron of Seattle, Washington and brother Robert Royce Brown and wife Joy of San Angelo, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Carol and Lurana Brown, brothers Anson and Wilton, sisters Sadie Mae Walker Johnson, Alta Clark, Anita Brown and Ila Whanell Smith.
