Geneva Stockwell Ames, 87, known as "Mimi" to her family, was peacefully called into the arms of her loving Savior on December 4, 2014 surrounded by members of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter K. Ames, only 3 months short of their 50th wedding anniversary, by her parents, Lauri Klice and Avis Stockwell, and by her sister and brother-in-law Isla and Elmer Bondy. Geneva is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Doug Staley, son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Ames, grandson Greg and wife Michele Staley with great grandsons Grahm, Ethan and Ian, grandson Michael and wife Laurie Staley with great granddaughters Hannah and Emily, and grandson Spencer and wife Allison with newborn great grandson Connor. Geneva was born March 26, 1927 in Raymondville, TX to Lauri Klice and Avis Stockwell. She grew up in Raymondville and received her BS degree from Pan American College in Edinburg, TX. After graduation she taught math at Raymondville High School before moving to Pasadena High School in Pasadena, TX where she taught math for 24 years and was head of the math department when she retired. She was an excellent teacher and was loved by both staff and students. Her great interest in life was sports. She loved watching both the Houston's Astros and the Texans as well as the Aggies and Red Raiders. If there was any way possible she never missed watching a game. The other great interest of her life was her family. She said many times how fortunate she was to have her family around her. She loved going to her great grandchildren's sports games, working crossword puzzles, playing bridge and other activities with her many friends. She never stopped learning. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pasadena ISD Education Foundation at www.pasadenaisd.org under Community or First United Methodist of Pasadena, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX 77504.
