Irene (Roskos) Miles, age 87, of Clear Lake passed away September 21, 2014. She was born to John and Anna (Kristian) Roskos in Hazelton, PA on December 29, 1926. After graduating high school in 1944, Irene moved to Baltimore and worked for the US Army Chemical Corps where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Miles. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years of marriage before Bill passed away in 2011.

Irene's love of travel stood her in good stead during her early married life as she explored American from coast to coast with her Army career officer husband. Raising four lively children in an ever-changing environment brought many challenges which Irene met with love and tremendous organizational skills. Those same organizational skills lead Irene to become the director of one of the first drug counseling program in Anniston, Alabama. For her work there, Irene was awarded the key to the city of Anniston.

A lifelong learner, Irene took college classes when she could between military moves and the demands of raising a spirited family. After Bill retired, he and Irene were world travelers par excellence - Europe, North and South America, Antarctica, the Far East and the Pacific Islands - the world was their playground. Cruising the Caribbean was their favorite.

During her long life Irene enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. She thoroughly spoiled and enjoyed her grandchildren. Until the very end, Irene was always a soft touch for hotdogs, Skittles, ice cream and red cowboy boots.

Irene is survived by her brother, John Roskos of New Jersey; four children and their spouses, Kurt and Kathleen Miles of Illinois, Karen and Wayne Saulter of Florida, Jon and Darlene Miles of Florida, and Jason and Carolyn Miles of Clear Lake; eight grandchildren Alexis, Justin, Erin, Robert, Cherie, Austin, Eric and Scott; and 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Bill.
