Jim Larrabee, 83, of Houston, Texas passed away March 28, 2013.

Jim was born in Seabrook, Texas to Ray and Eula Larrabee on February 1, 1930. He graduated from Webster High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University. Jim held teaching and administrative positions at Port Neches and Nederland schools. He left education and joined Science Research Associates (SRA) as an educational consultant. After 11 years with SRA, he returned to education ~ all at Clear Creek ISD. He was an Assistant Principal at Seabrook Intermediate, Principal at Ross Elementary, Director of Elementary Education and then Deputy Superintendent for the district. He was then head of the Department of Instruction. He retired from education in 1988 and then became the Executive Director at Armand Bayou Nature Center.

Jim loved to hunt, had horses, loved practical jokes, was a great baritone singer in high school and college, a boxer in college, told wonderful stories and was a big hit in his ukulele band.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Eula Larrabee, and his brother Dan Larrabee.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, his three daughters; Teresa Harris, Lisa Asbill, and Stacey Greco; his step-children, Dee Steadman and Tommy Barrow; his 7 grandchildren, Teresa's daughter Kaelynn Harris, Lisa's son Greg and daughter Paige Asbill, Stacy's sons Austin Greco and Landen Cox as well as her daughter Ashlynn Greco, Dee's daughter Bonnie Svarplaitis and his 3 great-grandchildren, Ian, Josh, and Ben Svarplaitis, as well as his sister Eula Rae McCown.

Funeral service will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home on April 1, 2013 at 3:00 pm with Katrina Pennington of Clear Lake Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
