Jean Ann Goodpaster Gerdes departed this life on November 6, 2014 . She was born June 4, 1940 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John Goodpaster and Jean Gorman Goodpaster.

Jean Ann was totally devoted to her family and so much of her life revolved around loving, caring for, teaching and supporting them. For 56 years, she was a devoted wife to the "man of my dreams" and felt so blessed to have him as the anchor for her family. In the later years of her life, from the moment grandson number one arrived, nothing made her happier than to spend time with all three grandsons.

From 1979 through 1996, she worked as a secretary for Clear Lake High School. She often served in the capacity of "honorary mother" for hundreds of students, and was so often told how she impacted their lives.

Jean Ann was blessed and enriched by the many friends that shared her life. She often worked in tandem with others to create special skits and songs to celebrate and honor the special events in her friends' lives. The many trips she took with her friends were some of her favorite memories.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Milton "Mickey" Gerdes; two daughters: Catherine Gerdes and her partner Kate Faver in Durham, NC, Lisa Ranostaj married to David Ranostaj of Friendswood, TX; her beloved three grandsons: Jake, Kyle and Mark Ranostaj; her brother and his wife John and Dee Goodpaster in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

A memorial service to honor her life is being held at 1:00 on Friday, November 14 at Gateway Community Church, 760 Clear Lake City Blvd Webster, Texas 77598.
