Born in Ironton, Ohio on Oct. 8th, 1927, Frederick Jerome Madden was the son of John L. and Lorena Madden of Ironton. He was a resident of Ironton until he enlisted in the army in 1945 after graduating St. Joseph's High School.

He served in Austria for two years and then attended Xavier University in Ohio after the end of WW2. He graduated in 1950 and was employed by Ashland Oil as a chemist. He was transferred to Buffalo, New York where he served at Ashland's Tonawanda Refinery before transferring to its sales force and also worked on his master's degree. In 1964, Mr. Madden became the sales manager for Ashland Chemical and relocated to Worthington, Ohio. Two years later he became a consultant for an Ashland subsidiary in Downer's Grove, Illinois and from there was reassigned to Houston, Texas, as a sales manager. After retirement, he and his wife Barbara moved to Highland Haven, Texas and then Meadowlakes, Texas.

Mr. Madden was surrounded by a large and loving family. He met his wife, Barbara (nee Barron) in high school and they enjoyed 63 years together as a married couple and had seven children.
