Joe Comeaux, 86, a 60-year resident of Pasadena, Texas, peacefully entered his eternal rest on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Joe was born on May 6, 1927 to Laurent and Nolia Comeaux in New Iberia, Louisiana.

After spending three years serving in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Loyola University (New Orleans) in 1953 with a B.A. in Accounting. He was employed by various corporations in the Houston area as Accountant, Treasurer, or Comptroller, concluding his professional career as CFO of Delta Steel in Houston, where he retired after 20+ years. Joe also prepared income tax returns for many grateful individuals for a number of years.

In the Pasadena community, he was active in Knights of Columbus, the Pasadena Numismatic Association, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and the Pasadena Chamber Music Society. He was a long-time supporter of the Houston Symphony and Grand Opera.

Joe served the St. Pius V Catholic community since 1960 as Lector, Usher, Minister of the Eucharist, Money Counter, leading the Rosary before Mass, and Intercessory Prayer Ministry. He was one of the first in line when the Catholic Church opened its doors to lay people in ministry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nylda Comeaux, and their seven children: Dr. Margaret Western of Roswell, New Mexico, Anthony Comeaux of League City; Nylda Jackson of Coto de Caza, California; Theresa Danne of Palm Springs, California; Maria Tyrrell of Spring; Anne-Marie Comeaux of Pasadena; Cathy Comeaux-Wright of Richmond; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Norm Comeaux, of Naples, Florida.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 1PM at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 824 Main St. in Pasadena, 77506, officiated by Fr. Wayne Wilkerson. A Rosary will be said in his honor by the Knights of Columbus.
