Mary Elizabeth (Duncan) Dickerson, 74, of Friendswood, TX, passed away on December 13, 2012 after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.

She was born on November 28, 1938 and raised in Aransas Pass, Texas as the only child of Bigham Thomas Duncan and Mary Bernice (Huff) Duncan. Mary graduated from Aransas Pass High School where she played the clarinet for the marching band and enjoyed riding her horse, April.

Mary married her soul mate, Otho Thomas "Tom" Dickerson, also of Aransas Pass, Texas. Mary and Tom's life journey impacted many friends and co-workers in Huntsville, AL; Slidell, LA; San Antonio, TX; Schertz, TX; Fort Walton Beach, FL; and Niceville, FL until landing in Friendswood, TX in 1978 and working at Johnson Space Center, NASA. They commuted and lunched daily and were practically inseparable morning, noon and night. They were truly perfect partners.

She proudly worked at Johnson Space Center, NASA, in Houston for 34 years, mostly as a Paralegal in the Patent Office. Mary enjoyed working and being around her NASA family, and never retired, continuing her active employment until her death. Mary had many fond memories of her friends while working at NASA.

Mary and Tom raised two magnificent children, Russell Thomas Dickerson, wife Bonnie Dickerson, and Ginger (Dickerson) Gamble, husband Greg. Mary also enjoyed her amazing grandchildren: Mike Shurtleff, Autumn Dickerson, Duncan Dickerson, Sarah "Kaitie" Gamble, Rebekah Dickerson, and Sarah Dickerson; great-grandchildren, Mahealani, Kawena, and Kanoa.

She loved spending time with family and friends near and far. She enjoyed gathering with family and friends which engaged in traveling, playing games and plenty of conversation. She also enjoyed shopping, sewing, craftwork and baking too many cakes then "having" to share them with others. Mary developed her love of baking from her Grandmother "Gram" whom she spent extended amounts of time with growing up. Mary was a member of Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, TX.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Thomas Dickerson, December 5, 1999; her father, Bigham Thomas Duncan, November 1, 1992; and mother, Mary Bernice Duncan, April 5, 2010.

Services were held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200 on Saturday, December 15, 2012 with Charlie Flanagan officiating. A private Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas at a later date.

Condolences may be sent to the Dickerson Family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at
