Michael Duane Dennard went to be with The Lord on November 28, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born to Henry Kennedy and Mary Elizabeth Dennard on October 10, 1945 and married Elizabeth Ann Schneidhorst on June 22, 1985. He grew up in Southeast Houston, was a proud 1964 graduate of Milby High School, received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech, and served in the Air Force for twenty years where he flew C-130s in Vietnam and ended his military career serving on the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. He earned a Master's Degree from Abilene Christian University which led to a successful career in marketing and business. Mike, an Eagle Scout, was an avid outdoorsman. He spent endless hours talking about his wildlife, camping and traveling adventures. He never passed up an opportunity to go fishing. Serving others was an important part of Mike's ministry. In his most recent years, he served as Space Center Rotary Club's president, volunteered at Crossroads, and was a faithful member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Mike was widely known for his charismatic personality, quick wit, and story-telling skills. He loved the Lord and had a special knack for turning strangers into friends. Survived by his wife, Beth; mother, Elizabeth; sister, Betty; daughters, Christine and Claire; granddaughter, Sarah; and preceded by his son, Patrick. Memorial Service will be December 5 at 10:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Road Houston, TX 77058. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all memorial gifts be made in Mike's honor to the Memorial Fund of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, which will direct them to the homeless ministries and Guatemalan missions which had a special place in Mike's heart. Please mail contributions to Gloria Dei and note "Michael Dennard" on the check.
