Myrta Fariza of Houston died at the age of 59 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She was born to Joaquin Lassalle and Joba Bosques on December 10, 1953 in Moca, Puerto Rico. Myrta passed away on July 28, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert "Bobby" Fariza; her three daughters, Yalisse Fariza, Jisselle Fariza and husband Josh Campos, and Dominique Buerkett and husband Brian Buerkett; her siblings, Rosa Lassalle, Filomena Lassalle, Aurea Lassalle, Gloria Lassalle, and Jose Antonio Lassalle; and many other relatives and friends.

Myrta and Bobby met in Puerto Rico at 17 years old, after Bobby moved from New York City, and began dating at 18. Myrta and Bobby were college sweethearts; after graduating from their perspective universities they moved to Nacogdoches, Texas to attend graduate school at Stephen F. Austin in 1976. The two of them soon after moved to Houston. After being married in Puerto Rico, the island that always had her heart, Myrta and Bobby started a family in Houston. Myrta was a beautiful, nurturing, feisty wife, mother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend. Her three daughters were the center of her world.

Myrta was the type of person that everyone wanted to be around. She instantly made everyone feel like family taking in several of her daughters' friends as her "adopted" daughters. Family and friends could always count on her to light up a room. Myrta was the life of the party, always the first on the dance floor with her lifetime dance partner, Bobby.

Myrta was a proud Juvenile Probation Officer for Harris County for over 25 years. Always going above and beyond for her family, her community, and those she served. Her selflessness and eagerness to help those she knew will be deeply missed and never replaced. Myrta enjoyed attending Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with her husband and daughters. Myrta was a woman of strong faith, which she instilled in her family.

Myrta will be forever missed and her memory will always bring joy to those blessed enough to know her.
