OSCAR NIPPER, 87, was born July 22, 1927 in Omaha, Texas, to J.D. Nipper and Norine Coffee. He passed away December 10, 2014, in Dickinson.

He earned a Bachelor of Accounting Degree and a Master of Economics Degree from the University of Texas, Austin. At the University of Indiana he earned his Doctorate in Jurisprudence. He had his own very successful legal firm in Houston for more than forty years.

In 1949 Oscar married Drama Education Teacher Bennie Tapp, and they were together for sixty-five years. In 1991 they founded the Bay Area Harbour Playhouse, a nonprofit community theatre in Dickinson where he participated in productions and served on the Board of Directors.

He was Past President of the Pasadena Little Theater and the Texas Nonprofit Theaters, Inc.

During World War II, Oscar was in the Merchant Marines and was drafted during the

Korean Conflict to teach accounting to Army Military at Ft. Benjamin Harrison,

Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bennie; one sister, Millie Freeman, and her daughter, Susan; and many nieces and nephews.

Oscar will be missed by his many friends and colleagues in the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, Gulfway-Airport Rotary Club, Lon Morris College Alumni, Anson Jones Masonic Lodge, Friendswood Methodist Church and the Dickinson Methodist Church.

A celebration of his life and reception will be held Saturday, January 3, at the

Bay Area Harbour Playhouse, 3803 Highway #3 in Dickinson 2:00 p.m. until

5 p.m. and is open to the public.

The family requests that donations in his honor be contributed to the Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in lieu of flowers.
