Phillip Joseph Clements, 59, of Statesville, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Born May 8, 1956 in Richfield Springs, New York, he was the son of the late Lewis John Clements and Helen Kaminski Clements. He graduated from Richfield Springs Central School in 1975 and at the age of 21, Phillip left New York and moved to Deer Park, Texas, spending most of his life there, always expressing his love for Texas and always considering himself a true Texan.

Mr. Clements spent 32 years with EXXONMOBIL Baytown Texas Refinery, working as a Process Technician and Supervisor.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, history, was highly intelligent and could answer every question that was ever asked on Jeopardy. Phillip was generous to a fault, a great story-teller, had a great sense of humor and was a hard core conservative.

He loved his family dearly and was devoted to his loving wife, best friend and caregiver, Marilyn Lyerly Clements of the home.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his sons, Brandon Clements (Megan) of Texas, Winton T. Burriss, Jr. (Margie), Jonathan M. Burriss (Amy) and Joseph F. Burriss (Traci); twelve grandchildren, Kyleigh, Logan, Luke, Kiley, Ashley, Sarah, Zoe, Madison, Lydia, Sam, Joseph Jr. and Matthew; one great-grandson, Connor; and siblings, Karen Pavese (Larry), Bonnie Mahon (Terry), Arthur Clements (Debbie), Lisa Flatt (Bill) and Jackie Ward (Matt).

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Abilene Church of Christ with Dave Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
