Raymond L. Gillis, 83, passed away on October 17, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1930 in East Palestine, OH to Angus Gillis and Susanna Call-Gillis. Raymond was preceded in death by his: parents; sisters, Anna and Patricia; and brothers, John and Lawrence. He is survived by his: loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Crowley-Gillis; daughters, Maureen Kelley and Katie Reagan; sons, John and Patrick; sister, Suzanne; brother, Peter; grandchildren, Joshua, Travis and Holly Kelley, Samuel, Erin and Brian Reagan, Preston and Reagan Gillis; great granddaughter, Olivia Kelley and numerous family members and friends. When his country called Raymond answered by joining the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked for General Electric and Lockheed Martin, before retiring in 1995. Some of the major programs he worked on where: Polaris, Apollo, Shuttle and Space Station. Raymond had a passion for his family and loved to ski and travel abroad, passions he acquired after retirement. Raymond's family received guests at a visitation held on Sunday, October 20, at Crowder Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at St Bernadette Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in Raymond's honor to the St. Bernadette Christian Action Fund, 15500 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77062 or the , P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
