Thomas Edward Ohnesorge passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Tom was born in Fairhaven, MA, November 21, 1937. He graduated from the UMass Amherst in 1959 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his 49-year career with the Space Program that year in Langley, VA. He moved to the Houston area shortly thereafter, when he was transferred to what would eventually become the Johnson Space Center. It was here that he met Barbara Shepard. They married in 1969. Their first son was born in 1973, followed by another son in 1979 and a daughter in 1980. After his retirement, Tom developed a love for travel and made several trips with his wife Barbara, which included New York City, Santa Fe, NM, and a weeks-long trek to Europe that included a trip on the Queen Mary 2. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; his son Gary and his wife Kristine; his son Michael; his daughter Virginia and her husband John; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A viewing was held on Monday, March 6, at the Crowder Funeral Home in Webster. The Funeral Mass was held, Tuesday, March 7 at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Thomas was laid to rest in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson.
