Desmond FERROW Obituary

FERROW, Desmond (Des). On 5th December 2020 Tauranga lost one of its greatest benefactors with the passing of Des Ferrow. Des was always interested in history since his ancestor, James Ferrow, was in Tauranga 1831 trading flax with the Ngati Haua. It was Des Ferrow, a private, unassuming gentleman who was the driving force, and major funder, allowing Tauranga to preserve its most historic icon, The Elms, by founding The Elms Foundation. Preserving, The Elms, for all New Zealanders was just one of the many legacies Des Ferrow will always be remembered for. Thanks Des. Friends of The Elms.

Dear Glenn, Graeme, Kim, and Ferrow family and Gabrielle,
On behalf of the Barry family children, we are deeply sorry to hear of Des' passing away. Your father was such a lively clever character, he will leave a big hole in your lives I am sure. Des did so much for the community and always spoke with such pride about his family.
Des was a very dear friend of Dad's, and he often spoke fondly of him- I am sure Dad will be glad his old mate has joined him up there so they can have some good laughs together this Xmas!
