MATHEWS, Va. - Paul Christie died Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home in Hallieford, Va. Born Aug. 24, 1934, in Milo, Paul was the second son of the late Lindon and Ethelyn Christie. He was educated in Maine, graduated from Colby College, Waterville, and was a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity. He worked for many years for Libby Owens Ford and later was president of Gardener Mirror, North Wilksboro, N.C. Most recently, he owned Christie Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, 1985-1991, and Sandpiper Reef Restaurant, 1991-2005. Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Pamelia Jones Christie; and his sister, Carol Christie Mancini. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jessamine; a son, Charles and his wife, Christine, of Campobello, S.C., and their two sons, Robert and Connor; a daughter, Cheryl of Machias; a stepdaughter, Amy Gray of Hampton, Va., and her two sons, Travis and Graham; as well as two brothers, Lindon Jr. and Robert of Blue Hill and Lamoine, respectively and their families. Special thanks to Riverside Hospice for the wonderful care given to Paul by all of the aides and nurses. Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, Va. Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the family's home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Association, 7505 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855 or Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Mathews, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Christie,
I was sorry to hear of Mr. Christie's passing. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with him (and you when you could make it out of the Kitchen!)when Terry and I dined at Sandpiper Reef. I also appreciate and will always remember the confidence that the two of you placed in me when I was running for and served on the Board of Supervisors. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.
