Paul Christie

MATHEWS, Va. - Paul Christie died Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home in Hallieford, Va. Born Aug. 24, 1934, in Milo, Paul was the second son of the late Lindon and Ethelyn Christie. He was educated in Maine, graduated from Colby College, Waterville, and was a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity. He worked for many years for Libby Owens Ford and later was president of Gardener Mirror, North Wilksboro, N.C. Most recently, he owned Christie Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, 1985-1991, and Sandpiper Reef Restaurant, 1991-2005. Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Pamelia Jones Christie; and his sister, Carol Christie Mancini. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jessamine; a son, Charles and his wife, Christine, of Campobello, S.C., and their two sons, Robert and Connor; a daughter, Cheryl of Machias; a stepdaughter, Amy Gray of Hampton, Va., and her two sons, Travis and Graham; as well as two brothers, Lindon Jr. and Robert of Blue Hill and Lamoine, respectively and their families. Special thanks to Riverside Hospice for the wonderful care given to Paul by all of the aides and nurses. Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, Va. Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the family's home.
