David Trask Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 16, 2011.
HUDSON - David P. Trask, 71, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 12, 2011, in Bradford. He was born Nov. 3, 1940, in Hudson, the son of Albert and Inez (Jack) Trask Sr. In his early years, David worked on his father's dairy farm. When his father retired, David worked in construction for a few years and then went into business for himself. He married the love of his life, Ruth (Allen) Trask, Sept. 12, 1959. When his son finished high school, he joined the business with his dad and they created David P. Trask and Son Inc. David was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. David was the kind of person that would do anything for anyone in need. In addition to his wife, Ruth of 52 years, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Megquier; his son, David A. Trask and his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Deanna Gould and her husband, Dion; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Albert G. "June" Trask Jr., George Trask, Keith Trask and Carl Trask; and three sisters, Elizabeth Eaton, Gloria Bouchard and Helen Freeman. He was predeceased by his infant son, Jeffrey David; his sister, Christine Brasslett; his father and mother; his in-laws, Fred and Mary Allen; and brother-in-law, George P. Allen Sr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Garnett Chute officiating. Because of the love David had for all children, those who wish may make donations in memory of Samuel Joseph Alexander to Sam's Room, Children's Cancer Treatment Center, care of Eastern Maine Center Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.

Dear Ruth, David & Deanna:
My thoughts are with you at this time of tragedy. I enjoyed seeing your father come in the office where I worked. He would come in a little early each time just to talk to me, he said. Also when my husband passed away 6 years ago, he told me to call him anytime if I needed anything. He was a kind and I could see gentle man and loved his family very much and would have done anything for anyone. It's a shame that this tragedy had to happen.

Dear Ruth and Family,
I am so very sorry that you have lost your wonderful husband, father, uncle, brother. I know the pain you must be feeling and send my deepest sympathy, with the wish that there was something I could do to lessen this sad time in your lives. If last night's visiting hour attendance was any indication of the love that so many have for you, then, hopefully, the sorrow you feel today will somehow be lessened. Having lost my son eight years ago, I know how much you are hurting. My thoughts and prayers are with you all,

Ruth,Debbie,Dave and Deanna...I am so sorry for your loss. David was a very special man...I will always remember him. Here is a poem that was said for my husband,Bob when he passed and I'd like to share it with you all. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO: When I come to the end of the day And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not to long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared. Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. It's all part of the maker's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go. I will be praying for you all through this difficult time. God Bless and give you strength.

Dearest Aunt Ruth, Debbie, Dave, and Deanna: Words cannot express the pain and sorrow I feel at the loss of my beloved uncle, and I wish I could make the pain we all feel go away. He was the best of all of us, always ready with a hug and a kind word, and I will forever be grateful for his love for me, my mom, my dad, and Brian. He was the rock my dad relied on, and he was always there. None of us can imagine life without him in it.

You have all my love as you struggle with your sorrow and the loss. Know that I loved Uncle David and will miss him always.

Aunt Ruth and family; I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart is broken for you all, as well as, anyone who knew him. His love for his family, his siblings, and people in general, made him who he was. It's a rarity that brothers are as close as he was with his. Often, on my stops at dads, he would update me that Uncle Dave had called and he would tell me what was going on. I will miss hearing him say that. I have so many memories of Christmas's at the farm with our large family and remember it being the best part of Christmas. I was privelaged to be on many bear hunts with Uncle Dave, as well. Thank goodness he was a better shot than me! Recently, at my anniversary party, he told me he was proud of me, for making it 25 years. That meant alot to me, coming from one of my dear uncles. He hugged me, said "Love you, dear" and I will remember that always. Much love to you all.

Our sincere sympathies to the entire Trask family. Although I didn't know David personally I knew who he was when I saw him come into my place of work and he was always very freindly to us all. I most recently met David's brother George and his son. They helped my son with construction work on some land he recently purchased from George. We are very grateful for their help and all the Trask's family willingness to help others.

To Ruth, sisters and brothers and extended family-- we are so very very sorry that there is such wrenching pain in your hearts from the loss of our precious brother, David. He truly was a wonderful, kind, caring, very hard working man, who loved his family dearly. He will be sooo missed by all of us and sooo many others. He was always helping us in some way or other--building homes, camps, garages, calling to see how we are doing, answering questions, etc. It was all very much appreciated. He will be with us every minute of every day, as we walk around in our homes, outside, where he loved to be in the woods hunting, etc. We never know what tomorrow will bring, so give BIG hugs to each other, as they are "God's bandages for a broken heart". Love and healing to you.
