PASTOR NATHAN M. GARNETT

WASHINGTON - Pastor Nathan M. Garnett, 73, a long time resident of Washington, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born July 5, 1938, in Durham, to Gordon and Carrie Wilson Garnett. He grew up in Lisbon and attended local schools. He attended Glen Cove Bible School and graduated from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va., in 1978. Nathan was a much-loved pastor of South Liberty Baptist Church. He was a man of God whose true love was the ministry. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and was called to serve God roughly 45 years ago. He previously worked in roofing and siding and also worked at Bath Iron Works. He was an adventurous man who loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles and flying. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gail Garnett of Washington; sons, Roy Garnett and wife, Jan, of Washington, Matthew Garnett and wife, Lorie, of Clifton, Mitchell Garnett and wife, Cheri, of Washington, Timothy Garnett and wife, Angela, of Lynchburg, Va., Daniel Garnett of Washington; daughters, Elizabeth Stewart and husband, Malcolm, of Washington, and Kathryn Daggett and husband, Brian, of Washington; brothers, Richard Garnett of Lisbon Falls, Ralph Garnett of Lisbon Falls and David Garnett of Lisbon; sister, Olivia Mason of Lisbon Falls; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A remembrance of his testimony will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at South Liberty Baptist Church, 2895 Burketville Road, South Liberty. Burial will be at Garnett Family Cemetery, Washington.
