Dear Karen and family,
What a loss to your family, community and the world. The celebration of his life was a tribute to what sort of a man he was. All who knew him; loved him. He is now in good hands and leaves you with many wonderful memories. Aunt Irene and Howard

To the Bill McFarland family: I am very sad and shocked to hear the news. Bill was a childhood friend and classmate. He sold me my first insurance policy when my son was born, and was gracious enough to attend my mother's funeral in Bar Harbor in November 2011. He spoke to me at that time of his illness: His outlook was positive, and as always, he was warm, friendly, and a great listener. A quiet leader. Completely trustworthy. Special. Even though I have seen him rarely in the last 35 years, I will truly miss him. It is hard to think of Bar Harbor without him. He touched many lives. My wife Gail also sends her condolences.

Karen & Family,
We are so very sad, especially because we can't be at the funeral to celebrate the life a very remarakable man. Bill will be mised very much but he leaves behind a lifetime of friends and acquaintances that respected, admired and appreciated the wonderful person he was.....I will always cherish the many wonderful times that I spent with Bill and the lasting memories that he left me. God bless you all during this very difficult time....may he be the light that shines on all of you until you are together again. LOL, Al & Linda Carville

I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of many conversations with Bill over many years. I'm sure I bugged him with to many real estate questions but you'd never know it. Bill was always a pleasure and made me smile every time we talked. I wish his family the best.

The planet lost one of its most beautiful inhabitants when Bill passed on March 9th. He was (obviously) handsome, charming, and successful. He was also super smart with a wonderful sense of humor. He was giving and humble. He was a joy to spend time with. He was very much loved and will be very much missed. Rest in peace Bill.

I am so sorry for your loss...when Bill came down to Boston to study, I already lived there...we became friends and every time I saw him over the years, he reminded me that is was so good to know someone from Bar Harbor in the big city...he was such a joyful man and always had a smile and a hug...Andrea Horner Semels

Karen, there are so many things that do, and will cause me to think of Bill...TYke always calling him Max, and telling stories of their youth, sports and sleep overs; their antics with Jim Kelly, his ready smile and quick hand of friendship, his fairness, his love of family, his kindness to others...his love of you; and desire to be strong and fight the battle. I will smile and think of him whenever I pass by your house:) Love, Jean
