PATRICIA RATLIFF KAHLE
On Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Patricia Ratliff Kahle, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her home in Neptune Beach surrounded by family. She was 70 years old.
Patricia was a 9th generation South Carolinian, born and raised in Columbia, to James Jr. and Elizabeth Ratliff. She attended A.C. Flora High School and the University of South Carolina. In 1972, she met the love of her life, Robert "Bobby" Kahle, after he graduated from The Citadel. The bond between Patricia and Bobby was apparent to anyone in their presence; theirs was truly a love story for the ages. They shared five children and six grandchildren who were Patricia's pride and joy. She was a resident of Neptune Beach, Fla. for 26 years and will be remembered for her care and compassion in the Beaches dental community.
As a devoted Christian and consummate Southern host, Patricia enjoyed, more than anything, sharing her home and renowned cooking with family and friends. There were no short visits at the Kahle's house. Anyone who stopped by would end up staying for hours, indulging in music and lively conversation, often on the back porch with the sounds of laughter carrying across the Intracoastal Waterway. Patricia had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and her warmth, empathy and generosity of spirit were evident in all she did. But, her greatest bestowal was the light and love she showered on her husband, children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to Patricia and she was the heart of hers.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs.James Washington Ratliff Jr., and sons Josh and Jesse. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby, sons Jude and Hampton Kahle and daughter Chollet Helfer, sister Elizabeth Cohen, brother James Ratliff III and grandchildren Jonas, James, Grey, Silas, Luke and Lyla. She was interred at a private family ceremony at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia. Arrangements were handled by Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home.
