Paul McNeil Danese II (Mac) was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1941, the first child to Paul McNeil and Clara Danese. He attended Bishop Kenny High School and following graduation, Paul enlisted in the US Coast Guard reserve, where he served seven years. Paul and his family, lived in many states throughout his life, but eventually settled back home to Jacksonville in 1979 where he would reside for the remainder of his life.
Paul inspired others with his strong faith and devotion to his family. Paul was a devout member of the Catholic church and valued his faith above all else. Paul was an Usher at St. Paul's in Jacksonville Beach for many years before moving to St. Peter's Mission Church to serve.
Paul was a founding member, of the Catholic Radio Association and was instrumental in the establishment and collaboration of Catholic stations, including Immaculate Heart, Queen of Peace Radio and many more. Paul also served as the original general manager of WQOP Catholic Radio. He never met a stranger and had the extraordinary ability to bring people together.
In February, Paul and his beloved wife, Patricia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, surrounded by family. The union of Paul and Patricia was admired by many for its rarity and loving nature. They shared a passion for family, travel and serving others. Their fondness for travel brought he and his wife to many countries throughout their life together. Paul was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a deep affection for his silly demeanor and compassionate nature.
Paul passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, April 13th with his wife and children by his side. Paul will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He will live on in the hearts of the many who loved him, and who will continue to cherish him for the laughter and love he could bring to any circumstance and for the steadfast and compassionate character that was uniquely his.
Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia, three children, Paul III, Christine (Michael) and Michelle (Steve), eight grandchildren (Paul IV, Luke, Emily, Tanner, Abbie, Mackie, Orie and Sydney) and five great-grandchildren (Shelby, Luke, Faustina, Leralynn and Easton) as well as his siblings (Cornelia Danese, Rosalyn Hartley, Sylvia Moore, Virgil Danese and Lucian Danese).
Paul's life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24th at 1pm with a Memorial Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 435 1st Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
Paul had a fervor for the sanctity of life and has asked for donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Women's Help Center, 4209 University Blvd. S., Jacksonville, Florida 32216.

McNeil was a cousin, one of many. One of my earliest memories is riding on the back of his motor bike at the age of about 8 or 9, holding on to him for dear life. He was about 12 or 13, and we were zipping through the land around the grape vines that his Dad, one of my Mom's favorite cousins, Paul, tended. He regularly supplied my grandmother (his aunt Eusebia) with the makings of the best grape preserves. It was always a treat to see McNeil and his brothers and sisters at our family reunions. I was proud that we were related.
