Theodore Oleson, 90 of Beaumont, died Friday October 25, 2013 in Port Arthur, Texas at Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Mr. Oleson was a sixty year resident of Beaumont. He was a member, greeter, and actually took part in establishing Christ Community Church of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. Theodore was born on July 23, 1923 to his parents George Randolph Oleson and Elsie Stein Oleson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife , Viola Grace Johnson Oleson , his son, David Wayne Oleson, and three sisters. Mr. Oleson was a United States Veteran having served in The Merchant Marines during World War II. He was employed with Mobil Oil Corporation in the Marine Division for over forty-five years as a senior pumpman until his retirement in 1987. During his spare time he enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks. Mr. Oleson was well respected by his peers, especially for having a very unique sense of humor. He is survived by his son, R. D. Johnson of Beaumont, daughters Ann Sheppard of Pt. Neches and Lora Lee Smith and husband Joel R. of Reno, Nevada, sister, Elsie Cowan of Glendale, California. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer Sheppard of Melbourne, Australia, Shaun Sheppard of Dallas, David Stewart of Pt. Neches, Greggory Smith, Christopher Wallace, Mary Vallerini all of Reno and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church of Southeast Texas located at 415 South Eleventh Street on Monday November 11, 2013 at 4:30 P.M. with Pastor Jeff Payne officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Community Church in Mr. Olesons honor.
