Myrtle Cornelius Reynolds

Myrtle Cornelius Reynolds went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on October 27, 1927, in Purvis, Mississippi, to Maytle Madora Cornelius and C.C. Cornelius, and was a longtime resident of the Beaumont area. Myrtle gave her life to Jesus when she was fifteen and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Purvis. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont for over fifty years. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends. Myrtle always smiled and loved to sing songs and hymns to Jesus. Her lifestyle was not depicted by a religion, but by a true example of Jesus himself because of the love and compassion she showed to anyone that came in contact with her. She lived her life as a mighty fine woman depicted in Proverbs 31. Myrtle served faithfully at the nursery, Mother's Day Out and was involved in mission organizations. She also volunteered at the Baptist Hospital gift shop and ministered to friends in nursing and convalescent homes. Myrtle also worked at Bealls department store in Beaumont. Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, George Rodney Reynolds; daughters, Sandra Reynolds Pinckard and her husband, Philip, of New Orleans, Louisiana and Debbie Shaw of Missouri City; son, Timothy Reynolds and his wife, Ginger, of Fort Riley, Kansas; grandchildren, Dale Shaw, Andrea Shaw, Matthew Pinckard, Meagan Pinckard, and Douglas Reynolds; great -grandchildren, Bella Shaw and Emma Shaw; sisters, Dorothy Fairbanks and her twin sister, Maytle Murray. A gathering of Mrs. Reynolds' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Beaumont, 900 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
