Augusta Jackson Obituary

Augusta Leister Skorpenske Jackson was born June 12, 1922, in a tent in Troy, Alabama, to Charles Augustus Leister, a union painter, and Jessie Lee Cowan Leister. They were traveling in a Model T Ford with their daughter, Clara Mae, from a job in Tampa, Florida to visit family in Drumright, Oklahoma. "Gussie" spent the first half of her life in Houston, moving to Conroe in 1975 to work for Mitchell Energy. She passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021, at the age of 98.

Gussie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Marsh Glenn Jackson; sons, Paul Lee Skorpenske, Jr. and Michael David Skorpenske; and granddaughter, Cheryl Lee Skorpenske Clark Owens.

She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lynn Skorpenske Hunt Smith and husband, Michael G. Smith; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and 4 nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with the Rev. Ray Hyden officiating. Please join us earlier for visitation and to view family photos beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston.

I didn't really get to know Mrs. Augusta that well but the time I did get to spend with her was good. I work at Care Cottages and she was one of my favorites. Praying for comfort during this time for the family.
