1959-2018 Jeffery James Olexa, 59, adored husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away May 5, 2018. A kind and patient soul, Jeff was born on February 23, 1959 in Orange, Texas as the fifth son and last of six children to Erwin R. and Doris Kuhn Olexa. From early childhood, he was raised in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from Beaumont Charlton-Pollard High School in 1977. In 1977, he married former spouse, Belinda Nuckols, with whom he had three children. Jeff joined the U.S. Air Force in 1981, which took him and his family overseas to Glyfada, Greece, where he served as a Microwave Communications Technician at Hellenikon Air Base. Jeff was honorably discharged in 1985 with the rank of Senior Airman.  Jeff returned to the United States, where he resided in Atlanta, Georgia and began a career in Information Technology. In 1992, he moved to Houston, Texas and over the next 26 years was key in the establishment and/or operation of several computer networking and network security ventures providing services primarily in the Houston area; including, Crescent Broadband, HTE8 Inc., Bluegate Corp. and Canopy Networks LP. During this time, Jeff was re-married to Amy Sherrill in 2009 in Kingwood, Tx, where they resided with Amy's daughter, Emily Sherrill, until the time of his passing. Jeff's family thank God for their time with him, and will always remember his hardworking and selfless attitude. His compassion and love touched all those whom he was survived by including his loving wife, Amy Sherrill; mother Doris Olexa of Mandeville, LA; father-in-law Lynn B. Sherrill of Houston; children Corey, Kyle and Paige Olexa of Houston; step-daughter Emily Sherrill of Houston; siblings, Bill (and Kate) Olexa of Mandeville, LA; Tim (and Eva) Olexa of Houston; Kathy (and John) Steinman Austin; Belinda Olexa of Portland, OR; sisters-in-law, Linda Olexa of Deer Park; Sue Olexa of (Broaddus. is this still correct?); Bridget L. Sherrill of Covington, LA and brother-in-Law Broutin M. L. (and Mary Betty) Sherrill of Cypress. He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Erwin Olexa; two brothers, Michael D. Olexa and Robert T. Olexa and mother-in-law Marcelle A. M. Sherrill. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 16th, at 10:30 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Houston, TX. A rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30 am. The family will receive friends and family immediately afterward in the St. Cecilia Catholic Church reception hall. Jeff will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery on Monday, May 21st, at 1:15 pm.
