1933 - 2018 Juanell Herrington Bateman, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2018. Born in Jasper, Texas on September 11, 1933, and grew up in Kirbyville. Her fate was sealed when, at age 14, she walked by the town's drug store and a young Robert Bateman, leaning against the store window, pointed to her and said to his friend, "I'm going to marry that girl." They married in 1951 and began a testimony of love that lasted 67 years. Robert & Juanell were called to ministry in 1956 and moved to Ft. Worth to attend Southwestern Seminary. Upon graduation, they moved their growing family to pastorates in Texas, Ohio, and Florida. Juanell was an amazing support in ministry. They prayed, read, discussed, and did pastoral care together. She was a quiet listener providing gracious feedback. She was loved by all those they served. For her children, she always had time, a listening ear, and support. Her ministry is of generational and eternal impact. She is survived by her sister, Betty Cearley, of Huntsville, Texas; daughter, Mary Beth Folterman, of Melbourne, Fl; sons, Charles Bateman, of Vero Beach, Fl and J. Mark Bateman, of Birmingham, Al; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the Kirbyville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, who passed away four months ago. The service will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 2 pm.
