MARY ANDERSON Obituary

Mary Anna Crary Anderson, 101, died Monday, November 9, 2009, in Austin, Texas. A member of an early Beaumont family, Mrs. Anderson was born on September 6, 1908, to Edna Swindle and Nathan N. Crary. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was very active, teaching Sunday school and starting St. Mark's Library. Mrs. Anderson was also a staff member of the Tyrrell Park Public Library until her retirement in 1946. A member of several organizations including Big Thicket Association, Texas Gulf Historical Society and The Pan-American Round Table, she was also active in the Republican Party. Her husband, Frank W. Anderson preceded her in death. Mrs. Anderson is survived by numerous friends and Godchildren whose lives she impacted with Christian love. A graveside service was held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Anna Crary Anderson's name to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 680 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77702; or Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. I met this wonderful young-at-heart lady in the late 1980s and have never forgotten her. She was an exceptional person, full of interesting stories and historical information. She will be missed.
