So sorry to hear of the loss of Ruth Duncan. My sympathy goes out to the Duncan family. May your family find peace in your time of sorrow.
Jeremiah 29:11
As I write this my mind is going back some fifty years to Long Lane Missouri Mrs. Duncan was my 5th. Grade teacher. She taught me and all my cousins as well as all the children of that small rural community known as Long Lane. Everyone dreaded going into her class. She was hard. So we thought. Everything she taught STAYED with us. She laid down a foundation of learning that has lasted me and many others a life time!
So grateful this very sweet and caring women crossed my path and gave to me more than any other teacher has. She made a difference to many lives.
Sincerely, Janie Butler (Sabine Pass Tx.)

So sorry to hear that Mrs Duncan has passed,
I think she taught at Long Lane, Mo elementary prior to moving to Beaumont. She was my sisters teacher in the 4 th grade! We must of all moved to Texas about the same time!! May your family find comfort knowing that God cares for you and wants you to have peace. Jeremiah 29:11,12

I knew Ruth in the 1950s as the mother of my friend, Kay. Ruth was wise and proper and playful in her interactions with us teenage friends of Kay' as we ran and danced through the Duncan home, gushing about movie stars and music, talking about the high school teachers, football games, school choir, or on whom we had a crush that day. Ruth's wry wit both amused and enlightened us; and no doubt helped her deal with our shenanigans. Back then we had shared values imparted to us by our parents. That's what attracted me to Kay and her family, a family that loved music, and one that included little sister, Betty, whom I remember as a happy and wild little blond turning cartwheels in their back yard. To Betty, to Dear Friend Kay, and to Kay's wonderful husband, Alex: Please know that David and I share your grief tonight. There is a new star in Heaven: Ruth Allison Duncan.
