Pat Pate Griffith, 73, of Hamshire, Texas entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born on April 30, 1947 in Beaumont, she was the first born to Connie and W. L. Pate, Sr.
Pat, or GG as her grandchildren affectionately called her (Pat claimed this was the abbreviation for Gorgeous Grandmother), was a devoted Christian who anyone could count on for empathy, prayer and wise counsel. She is known for her vivacious spirit, loving kindness and joyful demeanor. She brightened any room she entered, and people were naturally drawn to her smile, laugh and sparkling eyes. Pat did not know a stranger and almost every encounter resulted in new friends, admirers, and in many cases, new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Pat Griffith was a loving sister of the faith and staunch advocate of the gospel. Her greatest desire was for the salvation of mankind and the return of Jesus to a broken world. Her daily routine of study, prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving was first and foremost for her beloved family and friends. For this she prayed continuously with an earnest and loving heart. It is with hopeful assurance of those who knew Pat best, that her advocacy for her loved ones continues in the heavenly realms at the feet of the Messiah. Pat was a Bible believing woman and she took to heart the direction given in 1 Timothy 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men. So many of us have been divinely blessed by Pat's petitions.
Survivors include her daughter Tamara Kelso (Kent) of Martin, TN and son Pate Jones of Newton, TX. Grandchildren are Paten Jones, Kaeden Kelso, Kellan Kelso and Presley Parra. Brothers and sister W.L. Pate, Jr. (Sherrene), Pam Pate and Robert Pate (Sandy). Nieces and nephews include Suzanne Pate, Jennifer Pate, Devin Riley, Rob Pate and Stefanie Williams. Aunts Barbara Mattison and Bobbie Baggett and Uncles Don Warren and Pat Warren along with numerous cousins.
The family would also like to acknowledge others who were special to her including her beloved sisters-in-law and numerous close friends which include her dedicated prayer warrior sisters with whom she shared many devotions, supplications and miracles and her dear friends who shared a table and coffee at Rao's on a regular basis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. Sr. and Connie Marie, who provided the foundation of her faith, values, and character.
