Timothy Venhaus Timothy Robert Venhaus, 34, of St. Louis, born on Dec. 2, 1984, in Breese, Ill. and died on Dec. 9, 2018 at his residence. Tim was working on his MFA in Screenwriting at DePaul University in Chicago. He earned a B.A. degree in Cinema Production from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2013. He received an associate's degree from Southwestern Illinois College. He was such a loyal friend - kind, giving, thoughtful and lovable. He was a creative, hilarious, happy-go-lucky and passionate person. Tim worked for many years (2005-2017) as an educator at Nature's Classroom, an outdoor environmental education program in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island. He taught film-making at Summer Fenn Day Camp in Concord, Mass. in 2013 and 2016. Recently, he was the general manager at Clementine's Naughty and Nice Creamery in Lafayette Square, St. Louis, until August 2018. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Mike Zipfel, of Dallas, Texas; and Maternal grandmother Rosemary Zipfel, and Paternal Grandparents Alfred and Elsie Venhaus and step-grandfather John Bender. He is survived by his parents, Lynn, nee Zipfel, Venhaus of St. Louis, and Bob and Carol Venhaus of Breese, Ill.; brother, Charlie (Maria Gencev) Venhaus of Brooklyn, N.Y.; half-brother Johnny Venhaus of Breese, Ill.; step-grandmother Josephine Bender of St. Louis; aunts and uncles Ron and Kathy Venhaus of Breese, Ill.; Mary Jo and Dennis Krebs of Breese, Ill.; Julie and Dean Modde of Fort Mill, S.C.; Matt Zipfel of Belleville, Ill.; Mary Clare and Ken Gastro of Los Angeles; and step-aunts and step-uncles Cathy (Michael) Petz in Fairview Heights, Ill., Karen (Kevin) Bohnenkemper of St. Louis; Terri (Tom) Bender of St. Louis; Lisa (Larry) Dunn in Oklahoma; Sue Bender of St. Louis; and first cousins Joy (Mike) Boresi of St. Louis, Nick (Larissa) Venhaus of Breese, Ill., Tom (Sabrina) Davis of St. Louis, Patrick (Abby Nestor) Davis of St. Louis, Abbey (Kasra) Jarrahi of Los Angeles and Nick Gastro of Los Angeles, and Lauren, Emily, Amy Krebs of Breese, Ill. He was a great nephew and cousin to many. Memorials can be made to the Southwestern Illinois College Film Program, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville, Ill., or to Nature's Classroom, 19 Harrington Road, Charlton, Mass., and will be received at the funeral home. Services: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Parkway, in Belleville, Ill., and at 7 p.m., friends and family members can speak in memory of Tim. Additional Visitation from 9 to 10:45 a.m. before an 11 a.m. funeral Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, Dec. 15, at The Cathedral of St. Peter, in the South Nave, 200 W. Harrison St., in Belleville, Ill., with Monsignor John T. Myler officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, 1101 Mascoutah Ave., in Belleville, Ill.
