Carol S. "Meme" Wilson Obituary
Carol Wilson

Carol Sue (Meme) Wilson, nee Conard, 70, of Grand Junction, CO, passed unexpectedly on August 12, 2018, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, from complications following surgery. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death.

Carol was born on January 6, 1948, in Hoxie, KS, the fourth daughter, of Fred C. and Helen B. (James) Conard.

Carol was married to Evan Wilson on June 7, 1980, and after she graduated from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Carol and Evan moved to Belleville, IL, in 1987. Throughout her life, Carol had a special gift of care and understanding for people who were in need of just that. This was evidenced in her years at the Women's Crisis Center (now the Violence Prevention Center of Southern Illinois), the Hospice of Southern Illinois, and during her final position as Dean of Admissions at Governor French Academy in Belleville. It was in that role that she was lovingly referred to as "The Mother of the School".

After 30 years in Belleville, in July of 2017, Carol and Evan returned home to Grand Junction. The year since found them once again involved in the activities that they had so enjoyed during the earlier years. Carol loved to entertain friends, work in her garden, go on hikes with Evan on the Grand Mesa and the Colorado National Monument and even a new sport: "pickleball".

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Reta and Mary; and granddaughter, Lexxa Larson.

Carol leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 38 years, Evan; her son, Todd W. Farber of Ft. Collins, CO; her daughter, Kim (Bruce) Larson of Denver, CO; one granddaughter, Kylie M. Farber of Ft. Collins; one sister, Shirley (Bob) Samples of O'Fallon, IL; and one brother, Ed (Pat) Conard of Hoxie, KS.

Memorials may be made to Alliance for Lupus Research, 1270 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY, The Tapestry of Community Offerings (TOCO) in Belleville, or to the family.

"Rest in Peace, Meme. You loved and were loved by many."
