Charles Morris

Charles "Chuck" E. Morris, 87, of Granite City, IL, born April 24, 1930 in Hannibal, MO, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Mr. Morris had been a sheet metal worker with Local #268 and had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Cardinal's games. He lived his life for his children and grandchildren. The U.S. Coast Guard in St. Louis, MO, honored Charles with the Gold Lifesaving Medal for his rescue attempt of six persons involved in a boating accident on the Mississippi River.

He was preceded by his wife, Nina E. (nee Welshan) Morris, whom he married on April 4, 1953, in Granite City; parents, Ernest and Katherine (nee Conco) Morris; a brother, Marion "Buzz" Morris; and a sister, Catherine Scaturro.

Survivors include three daughters, Pamela (Bruce) Henderickson of Chester, IL, Lisa (Parry Perdue) Morris of Granite City, and Patty (Ernie) Cuevas of Jerseyville, IL; four sons, Paul Morris, Michael (Denise) Morris, Charles C. (Kim) Morris and Ernie (Gretchen) Morris of Granite City; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.



Services: The family will have a visitation from 9:30 until the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, IL, with Fr. Zachary Edgar officiating.
