Clinton Buechler

Clinton J. "Joe" Buechler, 83, of Swansea, IL, born August 28, 1934, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, July 9, 2018, in Swansea, IL.

Clinton worked for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation before his retirement. He was a 20-year trustee for the City of Swansea and an honorary captain of the Swansea Fire Department. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church and was an usher at the church.

Some of his favorite things in life were the outdoors, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed grilling, dining out with friends, and his frequent visits to fire houses.

Clinton was preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Buechler; his parents, Bernard A. and Elsie, nee Pierce, Buechler; two sisters, Irma Bareham and Arline Wilkes; a brother, Harvey Buechler; a brother-in-law, Paul Billhartz; and two sisters-in-law, Mary M. Haas and Margaret "Tookie" Reinhardt.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Agnes G., nee Billhartz, Buechler, whom he married on May 5, 1954; his children, Bob (Dixie) Buechler, Jim (Debbie) Buechler, Barb (Jim) Muren, Paul (Candy) Buechler, and Sue A. (Jeff) Yaekel; nine grandchildren, Tony (Katie) Buechler, Dale (Heather) Buechler, Amanda (Chris) Jordan, Jack (Amanda) Muren, Eric (Jessica) Muren, Kimberly (Brad) Dickerson, David (Katie) Buechler, Josie Yaekel and Jared Yaekel; 13 great-grandchildren, Vivian, Violet, Dylan, Bryce, Jacob, Owen, Sam, Addison, Hannah, Gabriel, Aaron, Colton, and Colin; four sisters-in-law, Betty Haas, Catherine (Kitty) Lanter, Veronica "Patsy" Wright, and Mary Ann Krohne; three brothers-in-law, Vincent Billhartz, Dennis Billhartz, and Virgil Reinhardt; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 8:30 to 9:40 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral procession to leave at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
