Floyd Burlingame

Floyd J. Burlingame, 90, of Granite City, Illinois, born September 10, 1927 in Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Effingham, Illinois.

Floyd had owned and operated Burlingame Construction for many years and proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a dedicated member of the Pontoon Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Zelma "Ruth" (Walker) Burlingame, whom he married January 17, 1946, who passed away on December 25, 2013; parents, Ivy and Viola (Roark) Burlingame; a sister, Eleanor Weeks; and two brothers, Warren and Jimmy Burlingame.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Carol Burlingame of Mulberry Grove and David and Davia Burlingame of Pennsylvania; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jerry Marshall of Florida and Sue and Richard McCarrell of Michigan; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen and Donald Burlingame; a sister, Shirley Brown; as well as other extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Pontoon Baptist Church.

Services: In celebration of his life, a memorial service will be held at the Pontoon Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with Reverend Rich McCarrell officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
