Francis Ponsler

Francis H. "Frank" Ponsler, 89, of Belleville, IL, born November 16, 1928, in Mode, IL, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at St. Paul's Senior Community, Belleville, IL.

Mr. Ponsler was an electric superintendent at Illinois Power Company in Belleville, IL, and was previously a line foreman with Illinois Power Company in Decatur, IL. He was a current member of Union United Methodist Church and a past member of Hope Church. He was active in scouting and was instrumental in his son becoming an Eagle Scout. Frank was also involved in little league baseball with Belleville Parks and Recreation. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Maude, nee Lawrence, Ponsler; and a brother, Charles Wesley (Nancy) Ponsler; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Ponsler.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Beverley J. "Joan", nee Smith, Ponsler, whom he married on May 24, 1952, in Decatur, IL; two daughters, Linda Diane Ponsler of Belleville, IL, and Connie Lee (Barry Beispiel) Northcutt of Dallas, TX, a son, Timothy Scott (Celia) Ponsler of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Michelle Northcutt of Houston, TX, Sheri (Colin) Burton of Nova Scotia, Canada, Lauren (Townsend) Zeigler of Lookout Mountain, TN, Brett (Jennifer) Ponsler of Campbell, CA, and Kevin Ponsler (USA Armed Forces); three great-grandchildren, Grayson Fritts, Elliot Burton, and Meredith Zeigler; a brother, Walter Eugene Ponsler of Woodland, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special canines, Lizzy and Candy.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Senior Community. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Harvey Gaither officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
