Joan Frey

Joan Elizabeth Frey, age 59 of Glen Carbon, IL, born June 9, 1959, in Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, with her family by her side.

Joan was a 1977 Edwardsville High School graduate. She was the owner of Miss Bailey's Poppy Patch - Home D‚cor & Gifts in Glen Carbon from 2005 to 2018. Prior to that, she worked as an insurance broker for Lockton Companies in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 2005. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL. Known to those around her as "Joanie," she always had a smile on her face, and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and JoAnn, nee Mueller, Wilkinson; dear sister-in-law, Suzanne Wilkinson; and her very special uncle, Larry Mueller.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Ronall W. Frey, whom she married on September 22, 1984; a son, Zachary (fianc‚ Alison) Frey of Prairie Village, KS; a daughter, Kara Frey of Edwardsville, IL; three brothers, John Wilkinson, Jr. of Glen Carbon, IL, Jamie (Gina) Wilkinson of Glen Carbon, IL, and Jody Wilkinson of Edwardsville, IL; a sister, Jill (Edward) Szakacsi of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness or and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Memorial visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL, and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.

Services: Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 Beltline Road, Collinsville, IL, with Rev. Michael Walther officiating.

Private family burial will be in Highland City Cemetery, Highland, IL.
