Raymond M. Eglseder Obituary
Raymond Eglseder

Raymond M. Eglseder, 84, of Belleville, IL, born August 9, 1933, in Cincinnati, OH, died Monday, June 11, 2018, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, IL.

Ray and his wife, Jackie, were the owners of Ray's Lock & Security and Belleville Alarm Company in Belleville. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955. Ray met his wife, Jackie, on Galveston Beach during a leave. Ray touched many lives with his loving, giving, generous heart. He always had a big smile ready for everyone. He loved his family with all his heart and was always available, day or night, to his kids and grandkids. Dad loved the family get togethers just so he could hang out and watch everyone having fun. We were blessed to call him dad, grandpa, friend. Life won't be the same without him, but we know he is back together with mom, the love of his life, and his daughter, Cathi, who was taken too soon.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline M. Eglseder, nee Powell, whom he married on November 24, 1956; a daughter, Cathi Heise; a grandson, Michael Eglseder; his parents, John and Regina Eglseder; a brother, Carl Eglseder; and a sister, who died in infancy.

Surviving are his two daughters and two sons, John Eglseder of Denver, CO, Gina Brouk of Mascoutah, IL, Michael Eglseder of Belleville, IL, and Karla Rednour of Marissa, IL; 12 grandchildren, Jason and John Eglseder, Ryan and Adam Seib (Addy), Kalli Heise, Jill Guest, Cody, Austin, and Jesse Brouk, and Rylie, Jordan, and Chas Rednour; three great-grandchildren, Talia Morgan, Michael and Maddy Eglseder; a son-in-law, Dave Seib of Tallahassee, FL; special family members, Tammy and Randy Foster, Kelly Schneider, Greg, Julie and Rachel Brouk, Rita Peet and Donna and Henry Haas.

A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors at St. Elizabeth's Hospital who treated dad with loving care. Dad was a frequent flyer and many nurses knew dad and would stop in his room to say hi. A very, special thank you to dad's speech therapist, Laura, who always put a huge smile on dad's face. His face would light up when you walked in his room. A big thank you to the staff at Willowcreek Rehab & Nursing for watching over Dad, especially Tracie and Tina and his roomie, Johnny.

Memorials may be made to St. Augustine's in the form of Memorial masses, St. Augustine's Food Pantry, or the Disabled American Vets (D.A.V.). Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
