Robert "Pete" Riedel, 78, born on February 12, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on September 11, 2018, peacefully at his residence in Shiloh, IL.

During life, Pete served in the Army Reserves. When the time was perfect, he marries Esther Schomaker on December 28, 1963. Together they formed a family with three children; Terri, Robert (Bobby), and Kellie. He was a former co-owner of Riedel's Restaurant in East St. Louis and Swansea. Pete also worked as a chef at SWIC. Pete was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lion's Club and Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Some of Pete's favorite hobbies included reading, trips to the casino, playing poker, cooking, and was an avid collector of tools.

Preceding Pete in death are his parents, James and Mary Riedel; siblings, James Riedel and John Riedel; and brother-in-law, Joe Todoroff.

Surviving family members includes his wife, Esther; children, Terri (Timothy) Hall, Robert (Bobby) Riedel and Kellie (Thomas) Dekarske; granddaughter, Samantha (E.J. Pisarski) Hall; siblings, Barbara Todoroff, Mary (Phillip) Aleman, and Kathy (David) Bauer; as well as sisters-in-law, Linda Riedel and Rita Riedel.

Pete's family would like to extend gratitude to Family Hospice of Belleville for their help and support during Pete's final days.

Memorial donations may be made to Family Hospice of Belleville or Operation Orphan through Corpus Christi Church, a charity that Pete believed in strongly. Online expressions of condolences may be made at www.lakeviewfuneralhm.com.

Services: There will be a Memorial Mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh, IL, on Monday September 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. Family and friends are encouraged to meet at the church at 9 a.m. for a visitation.
