Yasuko Estabrooks

Yasuko H. Estabrooks, nee Hashimoto, 90, of Swansea, Illinois, born Friday, December 2, 1927, in Nagoya, Japan, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at Cedarhurst of Shiloh in Shiloh, Illinois.

Yasuko was a member of St. Clare Catholic, O'Fallon Illinois, and St. Mary's Catholic Church, Orono, Maine. She was a teacher of Japanese Culture at the University of Maine, a member of the Women of the World (WOW), seamstress/dressmaker, a sports fanatic, especially watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Yasuko lived in Orono, Maine, for 30+ years prior to moving to Swansea in 2006.

She was a devoted wife to Carl. B. Estabrooks, who preceded her in death; also preceding are her parents, Shotaro and Ryusuke, nee Nishikawa, Hashimoto.

Surviving are her children, Carole (Michael Bennett) Dowling of Swansea, IL, Lucy (John) Hopping of Stratham, NH, and Martha (Richard) Prioetto of Brussells, Belgium; two brothers and twin sisters, all of Nagoya, Japan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kristin (Kris) and their children, Logan and Ava, Ryan (Elizabeth) and their children Zander and Mason, Travis, Marc, Taylor, Chloe, Leah, Christy (Carl) and their children Hayleigh and Zoey, Jennifer; sister-in-law, Martha "Bunny" (Royce) Day and their children, Annemarie (David) Messer and their daughter, Angella.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
