My condolences to the Neal family. God must have needed a great guy to paly a gig in heaven. You and wife, Nancy sent me to see your friend in Branston, Mo. Neal Diamond show in an old movie house downtown Bronston. It was always a pleasure seeing at the PSOP dances. Proud to know you as a member of my PSOP Dancing Family.. Will miss your happy face.

Gene and Nancy frequently attended our RSVP dances. Gene was a kind, friendly, sincere gentleman who was always eager to share a smile and a warm conversation. We have a long history together. I value his friendship and the time we shared and I mourn this sad loss.

He was such a caring & loving person. He was always ready to give you a big hug whenever he saw you. We had great times camping & family events with him. Him & Nancy taught me to water ski & he was very patient & encouraging me to keep trying. His smile lit up the room. He always made you feel like he was very happy to see you & very welcoming.
I really don't remember him never being around, espicially since we were at Uncle Hubert's all the time & I spent my summer vacations there.
He will be terribly missed.

Nancy, I was just reading the Belleville News-Democrat on my phone this morning when I came across this sad information. Bob and I were just talking the other day about how we missed talking to Gene across the fence. We feel we knew you and shared your lives most of the time you lived next door. You were the greatest neighbors ever.
I will send you a much longer note. Deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I do not remember life before Gene - hes been part of our family as long as I have. To say that Gene was a people person is a huge understatement for sure. He loved his family - both immediate and extended. He loved his friends and he enjoyed life. Gene always had words of encouragement for anyone he was around. He will be so missed by our family. So heres to you buddy - well all be together again soon.

The entire Barker family grieves with you. Truly heartbroken that we cannot share hugs. So many, many good memories are swimming through the heads of all 5 SBs - and swimming is such a good analogy. All those campfires and marshmallows, all those days skiing on water like glass. Seven crazy skiers, including Gene, behind dads boat. The talk of Norfork we were! Gene on one, leaning so far over he could almost take a drink. And that big spray. A picture of grace he was on skis. What a group of wonderful, good to the soul people. Never to be forgotten. He's up there swapping stories with Howard, Lorraine, Tom, and mom and dad. Oh, and with Fate, Hattie, Fred and Hilda too. Hugs to all of you. Our hearts and prayers are with you. Love always, Susan, Steve, Scott, Sally, and Stacy.

Gene, my cousin, had a heart of gold. He had such a caring, sharing and loving heart for others and naturally his family. He will be missed by all greatly but he is in the beautiful place where we will meet again.
