Vernon, it has been a few weeks since they took you away from us. We miss you so much it hurts so bad.We know that you are in the hands of god,the love that we have for you will never stop. They took you away from us body wise but not from the your spirit. We thank God for the 24 years he let us have with you. We will miss the joy that you brought around when you came. You had a sweet smile and heart. We would like to thank the people who sent cards, paryers and food ,the men and ladies from the firehouse that took up a donation for him. We thank God from our hearts. May God bless you all. Thanks to our pastor, Bishop John H. Pettiford and 1st lady Freddie Pettiford, church family, House of Prayer to All Nations.Love always, your family O'neals/Jones.

Trouble and Sista Beautiful, I am sooooo sorry to hear about Veto. Of course, since I haven't been at church in a while, I was informed outside of church and wasn't aware of the services when they were occurring. Please know that I will keep you in my prayers and hope that your healing process comes more quickly than not. I love you both and am tremendously sorry for the loss of your son but happy for the gaining of your own personal angel.

To the Oneal/Jones family I have known this family for over 35 years and I never would of thought they would be going through this loss of a young one so soon. I have asked God why but know that I am not to question him. God has a plan and a purpose for this young man in heaven. I'm sadden through all of this and I say to the family stay strong and let God guide you through this sad time in your life for he is a healer and he will mend your broken hearts. I have nothing but love for you and I will continue to pray that you make through and remember that God Loves you.

Vernon, Wow. I was just sitting looking at pictures of us all clownin around as kids. We were silly kids coming up. The teen years, WOW! :) I can't believe that you are gone. It doesn't seem right. I wake up thinking, did this really happen? I mean, it's been a while since I saw you, but you were still my boy. You were still loved.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to the O'Neal family and all who lives Vernon touched. I too did not know Vernon however I know he is loved by someone. It is always hard to lose someone close to you but it is easy to remember their face and their heart. I just want all that are effected by this crime to know that if all else fails, know God, and it is he who will take the journey with you and walk next to you down the path that will lead you through this difficult time. May Vernon O'Neal live in the sky.

I've known the O'Neals all my life. Bro O'Neal was my Sunday school teacher and a great part of helping me become the man I am today. To see this happen to him and his family is horrible. I grew up with his boys and my brother was even closer to Man and Vernon. This hurts home. But through it all, I know Vernon's life served a purpose for God and with a loss this large, a Blesson has to follow. So stay close and stay strong and you all will be in my prayers. Rest in Peace Vernon..We Love You Brother

Man, I can't believe my cousin is gone. I got the news he was kidnapped, when I went to my mothers house sunday night after work. Usually there isn't good news when you hear someone is kidnapped. I kept on telling myself this bad situation can come out good. Hoping in a few days I will hear he returned home unharmed, but it didn't end that way. I'm going to attend the funeral but I'm so hurt about it I cant even talk or look at my aunt & Uncle right now. The entire Lark family and O'neal family hearts is heavy but joy will come in the morning. I knew him all my life and i will always have my little cousin Vernon near my heart. I will always love you little cousin, and we will all miss you. Love always your big cousin Tim.

I did not know Vernon but I know about the quality and faith of the families. Prayers from the Cooper family are extended to both the O'Neal and Jones families. Saying words of encouragement, that is man's job. Providing comfort and understanding - that is God's jobs. Be fully aware of these words, "Vocatus atque non-vocatus deus aderit." Translated from Latin to English to be, "Called or not called, God is present!"
Sincerely,
Mercedes Hunter

Vernon,
I still cant believe you are gone. It hurts talking to Kathy knowing she got tears in her eyes because of the senseless violence going on. I still remember walking to Faye's with you and Mann going to get Kathy a Pepsi or walking ova to my grand-daddy house or going next door to play basketball...i could go on and on...I could never go down Gaty and feel the same way knowing thats where we was raised...I love you cousin and i pray that you watch over me and guide me in the right direction.
Love you always...

Our deepest sympathies from Minnesota to Vernon's family. We have such fond memories of Mann and Vernon coming up to Minnesota one summer to stay with my sister Kay and her kids (Vernon's cousins). They had so much fun with my boys and they were both great young men. We went to a rodeo with them and the bull broke loose from the fence and sent all of us running. We had some good laughs after that.
Vernon's cousin Tony lives with me and he and his sisters are all very upset over this senseless death.
While it is hard to understand or make sense of loosing Vernon at such a young age may God offer his family peace and comfort to make it through this most difficult time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
