John Luckert Obituary

John "Jack" Luckert John Luckert, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on January 20, 2019. Born on July 21, 1929, in Granite City, Illinois, he was a son of the late Raymond and May (Hartung) Luckert. Jack proudly served his country in the Army, and retired in 1985 from Granite City Steel Company as a Foreman of the Steel Analysis Labs, after 38 years of employment. From ages 9 thru 89, Jack loved and served The LORD faithfully through teaching and serving others. He was challenged to live a Christian life in his early years at Trinity United Methodist Church and then upon marriage in 1955 joined and served at Nameoki United Methodist Church, Granite City. He loved and supported mission work and went on at least eight mission trips to Idaho, Oklahoma, Mexico and Nairobi, Africa. In his move here in 2016, he became a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Dorothy (Chambers) Luckert; daughter, Christine Cross, of Fort Wayne; son, Rev J. David (Cathy) Luckert, of Henderson, Texas; brother, Donald (Doris) Luckert, of Godfrey, Illinois; five grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Rev William Leckrone; and son-in-law, Rev. David Cross. Memorial donations may be given to Madina Village School Inc., Gideons International, Visiting Nurse, of Fort Wayne, or a Mission Fund of your choice. Visitation: Will also be held from 2 to 6pm, Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
