My deepest sympathies to your family, Holli. I don´t know you but last week, I picked your Christmas Star ornament to hang on the Christmas tree to honor all the Fallen Heroes of Gold Star Families at the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, IL. The annual event has been organized by Frances Maddox, whose son, Sgt. Anthony Maddox also perished while in deployment.

I have known Holli for 6 years and had the utmost honour of being her leader and mentor since she was a private. She was one of the most driven and professional Soldiers I have ever worked with. Holli was going to be a Command Sergeant Major one day, she told everyone and we green suiters fondly called her GI Jane for her passion. We lost one of the good ones on March 5th, we lost a fierce protector. She deeply cared for her Country, her family and others. My thoughts and heart go out to her surviving family, particularly her children. I can only hope to convey to them the profound gratitude I have for getting to be part of their Hollis life. Her presence in my life influenced my leadership and she will be nothing but generously remembered. May she rest in peace and may her family find comfort in warm reflection.
