In Loving Memory of Dorothy Dills De Mond October 20, 1955 - December 27, 2018 "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die" (Thomas Campbell) God has chosen to bring our beautiful Dorothy, a treasured, wonderful wife, mother and 'Grandma Dot', home to be with Him after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She passed away peacefully in her sleep and is now an angel soaring in Heaven with our Lord Jesus, son Benjamin, parents Richard & Betty Dills, brother Jack and so many other friends and family that she dearly loves. Born in Burlingame, California, Dorothy was raised in a loving Christian home in South San Francisco. She excelled in sports in high school, most likely because she had six brothers always pushing her to be her best. She met her 'dream sweetie', Gregory, while working as a hostess at The Hungry Hunter restaurant in 1973. They fell in love and married April 19, 1975. Those feelings for each other were always expressed during their lifetime together, and will continue for eternity. After living in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii and Laguna Niguel, CA the family moved to Bellingham in 1990. Dorothy began working with Horizon Air at the Bellingham airport as a ground agent in May of 1994 and continued until her passing with over 24 years of service. She never missed a scheduled 3:00AM shift due to illness for nearly 23 years while working for Horizon Air, and developed many cherished friendships with co-workers as well as passengers who frequently flew in and out of Bellingham. She simply made every day better for everyone around her. An avid, athletic soccer player since 1980, Dorothy joined the 'Drillers' team in 1990 and became a lifetime member of the Bellingham soccer community, a wonderful group of people that she loves. They are like another family to her. Dorothy's infinite love and devotion to her family was unsurpassed, including her Husband, Children and Grandchildren. She was a loving, nurturing mother to our son Benjamin and daughter Christie, never missing an important event in their lives. She felt the same way about everyone in her family. Her 4 grandkids always looked forward to cuddling with their 'Grandma Dot', reading books, drawing, laughing and telling stories to her about school and other things going on in their lives. Dorothy is survived by her grieving husband of nearly 44 years, Gregory De Mond, daughter Christie Streit, (Bryan Streit), grandchildren Alexander & Nicholas De Mond, Cooper & Kenzie Streit, brothers Richard, Bob, Jim, David and Gary Dills as well as dozens more nieces, nephews and family members who loved Dorothy so much. She will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her, and Dorothy's loving, caring, genuine, joyous spirit, blue eyes and million watt smile will remain in our hearts and minds forever. There will be a celebration of Dorothy's incredible life on January 20th beginning at 4:00pm at the Boathouse in Zuanich Park, Bellingham, and anyone wishing to attend is welcome.
