John J. DeVarennes

1952 - 2015 LEE John J. DeVarennes, 63, of Main St. died Thursday at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Lynn, MA on May 28, 1952 the son of Rita Belliveau DeVarennes and the late John DeVarennes. John moved to Lee as a child and was a 1970 graduate of Lee High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the 1970s. After the service he worked for DuPont Painting, then as a custodian at Lee High School and finally Onyx Paper, formerly Mead Corporation, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, cooking, the New England Patriots and watching Kyle Busch at NASCAR. Besides his mother, Rita DeVarennes of Lee, he leaves his wife, the former Mary Lynn DiGrigoloi, whom he married June 2, 1990, one daughter; Jennifer M. Heath of Lee, two brothers; James DeVarennes and Michael DeVarennes and his wife, Kathleen, both of Lee, five sisters; Mary Rossi of Lee, Theresa Collins and her husband, Terrance of South Lee, Jean Brighenti and her husband, James of Lee, Norene Malumphy and her husband, Robert of Lee and Susan Hicks of CO; and three grandchildren: Taylor, Alyssa and Peyton Heath. In addition to his father, John was predeceased by his sister, Ann DeVarennes, and brothers-in-law: Louis DiGrigoli and Ed Rossi. SERVICES: Per John's request there will be no Funeral Service. The family will receive friends on Monday January 4th from 4 to 6p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home.
