Thomas M. "Tom" Filiault

1962 - 2018

Thomas "Tom" Mitchel Filiault, 56 years old at the time of his death, lived in Dalton where he made his home with his wife Stephanie and daughter Piper.

Went onto glory to be with our Lord on August 30th, 2018, Tom passed away peacefully after a long illness of FTD in his home surrounded by his family. Born on January 2nd, 1962 in North Adams, MA, he grew up in Williamstown. The son of Lawrence and Emily Sprowson Filiault, A graduate of Mt. Greylock High School and Berkshire Community College. He was the Grocery Manager at Big Y Foods in Pittsfield, until his retirement due to his health. Former jobs included being the Manager at Petco, where he met his wife and Manager of many Agway stores.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, Boston Cetics and Pittsfield Suns fan. He enjoyed hiking, watching the Pittsfield Suns Baseball Team and anything that had to do with the outdoors. He loved gardening and had a vegetable garden every year including this past year. He was a devoted dance dad and went to every recital. Tom, Stephanie and Piper hosted baseball players from the Pittsfield Suns every summer. He loved listening to Christian Music and loved Star Wars. Tom and Piper sat one day watching every Star Wars movie made.

Tom was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield and attended Dalton United Methodist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife Stephanie Miller Filiault. They were married on April 26th, 2003. He is survived by his children Kayla (James) Hayes of Mechanicville, VA Gary (Lauren) Leach of Hendersonville,NC Cristobal Filiault of Dartmouth, MA Keith Filiault Jennifer Filiault of Pittsfield, and Piper Filiault He is survived by his mother Emily Filiault and his siblings Kathy-Lynn Dull, David Filiault and Bobbie Filiault. He leaves behind 4 grandsons who he cherished very much. Spencer, Abraham and Finn Hayes and Cameron Leach. He also leaves behind many neices and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, Bear, Bella, Gus, Jack, Bo, Seamus and Angel. He is predeceased by his father Lawrence Filiault and his brother Lawrence "Skip" Filiault.

FUNERAL NOTICE- Calling hours will be on Friday September 7th from 4-7pm at Bartlett-Wellington Funeral Home in Dalton. Funeral will be September 8th at 11am at The First United Methodist Church 55 Fenn Street, Pittsfield. It will be presided over by the Rev. Ralph Howe.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial donations in Tom's name to a scholarship and dance fund for his daughter Piper. One of the joys in his life was to watch her dance.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Berkshires for all they did for Tom during his time of illness. They would especially like to thank Desiree, Jaclyn and Lisa who made him laugh, smile and let him be himself when he was sick. They would also like to thank Harold for being a good friend to Tom and taking him for walks every day while he still could and for being by his side the last few days of his life.
