Karen Marie Choate 59, of Odessa, Texas, lost her battle with ovarian cancer on April 19, 2021. In her home surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 28, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Karen was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Gerald and Beverly Choate on June 30, 1961. She graduated from Odessa High School and immediately went to work for Shell Oil Company as a plant operator and held many positions in the company in her 41-year career.
She was an active member in AA where she served, mentored, and sponsored many. She had 30 years of Sobriety and will be greatly missed.
Karen was a proud and loving mother and Yaya. One of the great joys of her life was watching and cheering on her "3B's" when they rodeoed.
Karen loved music and dancing and if you knew Karen, you knew her laugh. Karen was the life of every party.
Karen is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Choate; mother, Beverly Choate; and brother, Mike Choate.
Karen is survived by her son, Curtis Choate and wife Mandy Choate; granddaughters, Berkley Hudnall, Braley Hudnall, and Brooke Choate; and sister, Cathy Choate.
Special thanks to Favorite Cousin Kari, General Manager Deann, Michelle, Briana, Tracy and Kennie for the daily care in her final days.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cast, Steven Strahan, Zack Ringo, Zack Peterson, Casey Swaim, Chris Rogers.

Cathy,
I am saddened to hear of Karen’s passing and please know your family is in my prayers. That girl always had a smile and kept me laughing. She is one of those Special people that will always have a place in my heart.
